Company’s Background


Tan Thong Huat Company Limited ( ) in English means “Tan’s family will prosper together” is the first company of “Phornprapha” family founded in 1931 by Dr. Chumpol Phornprapha’s grandfather Mr. Tai-Long Phornprapha (Tan Tài Lóng : ) and his father Mr. Sindhu Phornprapha (Tan Sòng Xīn : ).

Mr. Sindhu Phornprapha is the eldest son of Mr. Tai-Long Phornprapha was born in Guangdong Province, China.  He accompanied Mr. Tai-Long to Thailand since 20 years of age with a determination to build up a solid commercial business foundation for the Family.  Mr. Tai-Long and Mr. Sindhu started with buying and trading of used grass bottles and metal scrap.  They established Tan Thong Huat Co., Ltd.  Later on, they started importing steel bars, machinery, and used cars business from the Korean War for reconditioning.  This is the beginning of the automotive and motorcycle industry in Thailand which is the foundation of the Phornprapha family.  The company’s first office is located on Songwad Road, at the heart of Yaowarat area which was an important commercial districts of Thai-Chinese descendants in Bangkok Metropolitan.

Thereafter, Tan Thong Huat Co., Ltd. expanded its business and branch out into various companies of Phornprapha Family such as Siam Motors Co., Ltd., Thai Honda Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and S.P. International Co., Ltd., which are all the leading of the automotive business in Thailand.

1966 – 1977

  • S.P. International Co., Ltd. was established on March 29, 1966 with a registered capital of 1 Million Baht by “Dr. Chumpol Phornprapha”, the founder.  The company name “SP” originated from the abbreviation name of “Sindhu Phornprapha”, it is Dr. Chumpol way to show his respect and the gratitude to his beloved father.  The word “International” is his vision to operate the company business for prosperity both locally and internationally.  Together with his two younger brothers who graduated from the United States, namely Mr. Raksanit Phornprapha and Mr. Satitphong Phornprapha, as the significant force to help manage the SPI Group. S.P. International Co., Ltd. started the first business as an importer of Suzuki motorcycles for distribution in Thailand.  In 1967, the company’s joint venture with Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC).  The first ever oversea factory of Suzuki Japan, Thai Suzuki Motor (Thailand) operates as manufacturing and SPI handle distribution of Suzuki motorcycles.  S.P. International Co., Ltd. expanded into automobile retail business as Toyota dealer in Bangkok.

  • Established Thitikorn Public Company Limited on August 4, 1972, to provide consumer finance for hire purchase of motorcycles and Automobiles. Initially focused on providing loans for hire purchase services for motorcycles in Bangkok Metropolitan areas.  The operation expanded to the eastern region under C.V.A Co., Ltd. In 2003, the company purchased Chayaphak Co., Ltd. to expand into car hire purchase in Bangkok Metropolitan areas.  In 2003, the company was listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand and expanding the service covering every regions in Thailand.
  • Established C.V.A. Co., Ltd. in 1977 to provide motorcycle hire purchase service for both new and used cars in Bangkok Metropolitan areas, Eastern and Central Regions, with a total of 12 branches covering 7 provinces.
    In 2004, C.V.A. Co., Ltd. focused on debt collection business while all of the hire purchase services for motorcycles are operated under Thitikorn Public Company Limited.

1978-1987

  • Established Zinphol Co., Ltd. in 1979 to operate a retail business of Suzuki motorcycles, spare parts as well as motorcycle service center in the central provinces of Thailand. Zinphol Co., Ltd. has more than 32 branches in 12 provinces, each of which has a standard Suzuki service center as well as providing motorcycle hire purchase service to
    customers. 
    In 2007, Zinphol Co., Ltd. had restructuring its operation by transferring executives and employees to join Thitikorn Public Company Limited.
  • Established Toyota Pathumthani, Toyota Dealer Co., Ltd. in 1979 as the first and sole Toyota dealership in Pathumthani Province providing Toyota cars and pickup truck and service center of Toyota cars with international standards.  There were 6 branches initially which consisted of Head Office at Km. 37, Phaholyothin Road branch. Muang Pathumthani Branch, Sam Khok Branch, Lat Lum Kaew Branch, and Thanyaburi
    branch. Dealer Co., Ltd.  

  • Established Thitipon Co., Ltd. in 1981 as a distributor of motorcycle spare parts by procuring and delivering high quality products from both domestic and foreign manufacturers to more than 200 major spare parts dealers and The Company’s partners in different districts and provinces across the country.  The strength of business operation is our extensive experience and capability to supply high quality products at reasonable prices.  Also, the company have efficient inventory management and effective marketing campaign, as well as our excellence relationship with customers and suppliers for the past 39 years of its business operation.
  • Established Napas Co., Ltd. in 1983 to support our SPI Group’s motorcycle business by providing motorcycle transportation and logistic services to SP Suzuki PLC, from manufacturer Thai Suzuki Motor Company Limited to the Company’s warehouses and dealers S.P. Suzuki PLC.
  • Established S.P. Building Co., Ltd. in 1985 to operate office rental. S.P. Building on Phaholyothin Road is a twin building with a total area of 35,000 square meters, which currently is the location of IBM Thailand Co., Ltd., American Express (Thai) Co., Ltd., Fuji Film (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and more than 20 World-leading companies.   

1988 – 1997

  • Established Software Development Co., Ltd. in 1988 to develop computer programs for users of IBM’s computer programs for the mainframe, minicomputer, and PC.  In addition, the Company provide software and system installment service, computer distribution, training.  Currently, the Company also provides information technology services to the affiliate group of companies.
  • Established Star Polymer Corporation Co., Ltd. in 1990 to manufacture high-quality plastic parts using injection molding process with advance technology.  The Company products are motorcycle parts, auto parts, computer components, electrical goods, and parts of household appliances.  The factory is located at Lat Krabang Industrial Estate.   
  • Lexus Bangkok Co., Ltd. was established in 1992 together with 7 Toyota dealers in Bangkok. It is the first and only Lexus dealership in Thailand, S.P. International Co., Ltd. is the major shareholder.  Lexus Bangkok Co., Ltd. is located on Petch Phraram Road, Huai Khwang Subdistrict, Bang Kapi District, Bangkok.

  • Established SP Suzuki Public Co., Ltd. in 1994 by SPI Group started a motorcycle business by importing Suzuki motorcycles for distribution in Thailand.  The Company joined ventured SUZUKI MOTOR CORPORATION (SMC) of Japan founded THAI SUZUKI MOTOR (TSM) factory which is the first Suzuki factory outside Japan on March 9, 1967.  TSM is a manufacturer of Suzuki motorcycles.  In 1994, S.P. International Co., Ltd.’s motorcycle sales department merged TTC Suzuki Sales Co., Ltd. to establish “SP Suzuki Co., Ltd.”  In 1995, the Company was listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand and raise 1,216 million baht to expand the distribution business of Suzuki motorcycles.  There were 384 dealers in 63 provinces across the country excluded 14 southern provinces.  In 2011, when the Company sold its stake of THAI SUZUKI MOTOR (TSM) and the Company was delisted from the stock exchange and changed its name to SPSU Public Co., Ltd. .   
  • Established Patamak Co., Ltd. (renamed from Algotech Co., Ltd.) in 1996 as a bio-fertilizer manufacturer from blue-green algae that have been solely transferred production technology from the Institute of Scientific and Technological Research of Thailand.  Part of the company’s bio-fertilizer is to be ship to farmers under government policy.  The company also distribute bio-fertilizer to The Company’s network of Dealers across the country.  The factory is located in Bang Rakam Subdistrict, Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom Province.   

2008 – 2017

  • Established Sabaidee Leasing Co., Ltd. in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) in 2013 to provide motorcycle leasing services in the Lao PDR.  The Company received leasing permit from the Bank of Lao PDR on October 21, 2014 to operate  leasing business.  Currently, there are 6 branches nationwide included Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Savannakhet, Pakse, Udomxai, and Xiang Khoang.

  • Established Suosdey Finance Public Limited Company in Cambodia in 2014 to provide motorcycle leasing services in the Kingdom of Cambodia.  The Company received the leasing permit from the National Bank of Cambodia on August 5, 2014.  Currently, the Company operates 12 branches across the Kingdom of Cambodia, including Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Battambang, Kampong Cham, Svay Rieng, Kampong Speu, Banteay Meanchey, Kampot, Kampong Thom, Pursat, Takeo, and Kampong Chhnang. 

  • Established TK Ngern Tanjai Co., Ltd. in 2015 to provide lending business to individual (Nano Finance), the company has received a license from the Bank of Thailand on July 22, 2015 with 10 branches in operation.

2018 – Present

  • Established Mingalaba Thitikorn Microfinance Co., Ltd. in 2017 in the Republic Union of Myanmar.  In 2019 the company received microfinance license from Financial Regulatory Department (FRD) to operate microfinance business in Bago Region.
