Biography: Mrs. Watcharee Phornprapha
Mrs. Watcharee Phornprapha was born on September 8, 1915 in Muang District, Kanchanaburi Province, started her education in Thailand. Then she had a chance to further study Chinese in China. She also learned to sing and play the piano, later became a singing and piano teacher.
In 1939, Mrs. Watcharee married to Mr. Sindhu Phornprapha at the age of 25 years old. She was diligent and working side by side with Mr. Sindhu since Tang Tong Huat Co., Ltd. was still a small company. Mrs. Watcharee Phornprapha served as the first Managing Director of Siam Motors Co., Ltd. for 2 years during 1952 – 1954. After 1954, she worked at Tan Thong Huat Co., Ltd. In 1955, she was also the co-founder of Siam Mineral Provpcts Co., Ltd., a tin mine company in Ratchaburi Province together with her brother which later The Company became the largest tin mine in the Central Region.
Mrs. Watcharee as a good daughter-in-law of the family also helped with her family business. In those days, most married women would be housewives taking care of house and their children.
Mrs. Watcharee Phornprapha was a charitable person and regularly temple going person. She passed away on February 28, 1992, at the age of 77 years old.
